Kiwi Section ?
« on: November 20, 2007, 03:39:56 PM »
Yeah I know its called AusRock !

Great listing of Aus Rockers and a few Kiwis that crossed the ditch

K Ones have been a core element of the AU music culture for decades
Anyone have sounds from yesteryear for a Kiwi expat that flew the coop 20 years past.

i have posted a couple of kiwi bands in screamins bits but only new stuff , no 80's stuff , sorry

As for a kiwi section sounds like a good idea , but i also wonder how popular it would be or how many people want kiwi music or post music in it . Maybe something to consider if the new zealand members grows , just my thoughts

Doesnt seem to be much  NZ music  Album wise or otherwise floating around
Brazier, Sailor, Legionaires, DD, Herbs, Streettalk etc ...

Got a few but theyre are so old and unplayable that theyre worthless.

Still hold onto them  with the dream that some miracle technology  will emerge to restore them to their former glory

Lot of great bands in the 80's that put out the odd single album

Maybe there are some K1 members with some content

The forum relies on input from our active members. It seems a shame that so much of what you're looking for can't be found here (yet), but all that means is that no one has posted any links so far. There is still a good chance that some of our members do have good copies of some of the music you want, and can upload it.

Why not put a post into the music requests and see what turns up.

I'm an Aussie through and through but it's amazing how many bands we have claimed from NZ as our own.

Yeah, I would love to track some stuff by a couple of bands a friend in Christchurch out me onto.

The Holy Toledos - I had a cassette tape but its gone missing

Throw - had quite a following for great guitar pop. The singer songwriter Jeremy had another band called The Cinematics which I saw one night in Christchurch and they were very good, very English.

I had a look at the Kiwi Tapes blog but it closed down as of April 1st but says he's concentrating on another.

They had some great vinyl record stores in Christchurch and Dunedin, all sorts of stuff & cheap. I got DMZ for $3 with Mighty Idy on it.

I too am looking for a Kiwi artist - another one that we kinda claimed.

Sharon O'neill - her earlier stuff (pre Danced in the fire)

Would be really grateful if anyone could help me with  the albums "Maybe" and "Words" in particular

We had an excellent Kiwi hardcore punk trio called Lung, come over to the UK to play some gigs, back in the early 90s. A friend of mine helped promote the tour. I have 3 CDs by them, one as The Clean & two as Lung. I know they split soon after I met them. According to the allmusic guide, they replaced their original bass player with a guy from Rake & recorded a couple more things before disbanding, leaving a couple of them in the US. Always wondered if they were still playing in other bands.
