Listen To My Heartbeat
« on: Sun 09 Aug 2020 13:20:04 »
This song keeps playing in my mind, from time to time but haven't found.  Artist sounds a little like Barry White (kinda gravelly) but don't think it is.  Kinda slow, with a drumbeat flowing through it, like almost tribal (?) and he talks or sings about how much he loves someone.  Would say 80's?  Just vaguely recall him saying/singing "Listen To my Heartbeat" but it's an uphill battle trying to put a tile or name to it.  Have gone through several titles but come up empty.  Just asking.

Not much to go on there, but a couple of possibilities...

Chris Rea, I can hear your heartbeat, from the Water Sign album.

Gary Moore, Listen to your heartbeat, from the Run for Cover album.

Sorry, none of these.  Too upbeat.  Something about seems "tribal" (maybe drum) and more talking/singing and similar to Barry White.  Have gone through a lot of "Listen To My/Your Heartbeat"s.

Perhaps it is this New Yorker, Phillip-Mychal Sampson?

As P.M. Sampson he put out the album - Listen to My Heartbeat (1990) [Columbia CD CK-47939]

A particular guilty pleasure of mine is Ryuichi Sakamoto's haunting track "Heartbeat" from his 1991 album.

...I see the lines in the palm of its hand now
I listen hard but no words spring to mind
And it sounds so sweet, listen to its heartbeat
And I'm drowning in its sea
Falling at its feet
Listen to my heartbeat baby ...

Tks
I'm on a whiskey diet. I've lost three days already ... :}

Thanks for trying!  Appreciate.  Not either one (unfortunately).  Last, by Ryuichi, was interesting and my first thought (drum picture) was "it might be" but singer too mellow (?) and other too upbeat.  Original song seemed "spacey" but I'm not entirely sure what that means!  Thanks!  Think drums signified heartbeat, and voice more like Barry White or Isaac Hayes, but been through their offerings.

A long shot and not the 80's (2007 in fact): Ray Davies "Morphine Song":

I had not heard that "heartbeat" but sorry to say, not the one.  Thank you, for trying.  Appreciate.

Unfortunately, the only "heartbeat" song I can think of that gets anywhere near to fitting the bill is "Heartbeat" by King Crimson:

Sorry, not the one.  This one is more upbeat and actually sings, whereas the other seemed more like talking.  Seemed like there was a regular drumbeat in the background.  Thanks, anyway.

Well, I missed that one, but unfortunately not the one.  Thanks for trying.  Appreciate.  Wish I'd done the classic Wendie Jo Sperber,
(from "I Wanna Hold Your Hand") and at least thrown coins at the public telephone, when first heard but was driving.  LOL!

I gather it's not this rarity from the 60s.

Try this one out by Chris Rea - raspy voice with a catchy drum beat throughout

"I Can Hear Your Heartbeat"  (not quite a match with the title but pretty close)

Either way, this is a great song ->

Thank you, for the input.  Still none-the-wiser.  Few hadn't heard.
