Obituaries and Eulogies / R.I.P. - Danny Thompson (86)
« Last post by RAM on Thu 25 Sep 2025 17:00:10 »
Danny Thompson was a giant of the English folk scene as a member of Pentangle and playing on countless albums by artists who formed the basis of much of my musical journey including Richard Thompson, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Sandy Denny, Bert Jansch... to name but a few.

R.I.P. Chris Doheny (Geisha) @64     :vsad:
Chris Doheny, the voice of footy anthem More Than A Game and frontman of Aussie pop-rock band Geisha, has died.
Doheny was driving a Holden ute that collided with a truck on Thiele Hwy in Kapunda, near the Barossa Valley in South Australia, about 7.20pm on Friday.
Tragically, he died at the scene.

Help Me Identify This / Re: Listen To My Heartbeat
« Last post by punkinblue9 on Tue 16 Sep 2025 12:21:56 »
Don't think I've heard that one, but it's not the one, sadly.  Singer really didn't sing, per se, was more like Isaac Hayes, I guess, but the drum beat was there, alluding to something else.  Really thought it might be Van Morrison, but no.  Bugged the heck out of me, but thanks.

It used to be that you could go to your favorite bookstore and pick up the latest release.  Did not read the fine print online that Fannie Flagg's new book was only offered online.  They did not have the hard copy !!

Wanted Lulu & Petula Clark books.  E-bay warned of "tariffs" !!  Ended up ordering from Coles, autographed, at somewhat same price as offered for not signed BUT the shipping was 25 pounds !!  Probably should have waited for digital, possibly with their own readings.

No one seems interested in the hard copy, these days.  Even the clerk said magazines aren't selling well.

That's my gripe for the day, along with other miscellaneous stuff.
