Totally agree Newrace. When will these guys understand that the internet is far bigger than they think, and it's not just another of their toys.

Megaupload – Closed

Fileserve – Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Deleting multiple files. Banning Premium accounts. Closed Affiliate Program.

Filesonic – Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Closed Affiliate Program. Changed server location Jan 22, 2012. Taken down it's Facebook page. Now using Digital fingerprinting. Files are being deleted as soon as uploaded (as Hotfile did).

4Shared – Deleting multiple files

EnterUpload - Down (Redirect)

VideoBB – Closed Affiliate Program.

Filepost – Started suspending accounts with infringing material (as Hotfile did)

Uploaded.to/ul.to (http://uploaded.to/ul.to) – Blocked U.S. access.

Videozer – Closed Affiliate Program.

Update 24 Jan 2012

UploadBox calls it quits. “All files will be deleted on January 30th. Feel free to download the files you store with UploadBox until this date.”

Days after online file-sharing hub Megaupload was shut down by federal prosecutors, the RIAA's Vice President of Strategic Data Analysis, Joshua P. Friedlander, has issued a statement about the shutdown on the organization's blog ...

In the post, titled "Why Closing Megaupload Matters", Friedlander points to data that shows that digital music sales rose after file sharing service Limewire's shutdown in 2010. He suggested that the same could happen following Megaupload's shutdown: "Collectively, this evidence strongly suggests that the shutdown of illegal sites helps create a thriving and diverse digital marketplace. It encourages users to go to legitimate sites, and enables great new services to be launched - like Spotify, which launched in the US last year and quickly signed up millions of new users. It's always reassuring when the data we see in the market reflects what we thought was just common sense."

I think such an arrogant attitude says it all. I'd hope action like this "Black March" has wide-spread support and is successful. But the cynic in me suspects the industry probably won't loose much sleep. Sure they might have a bad March quarter, but they'd probably expect a bumper trade month in April as people flock back to the market.

Not sure that this Black March thing will take on anyway as the people supporting it are the ones that don't buy anything anyway.

Something I noticed all the upload sites seem to have dropped their limit back to 300 mb per file .

Do you think they have also reduced their speed. Just seems lately it is taking somewhat longer to download a file...
