I just read this sad news on Gil Matthews Facebook page...
"One of the great guitar players and a mighty singer. He wrote many fantastic songs and was a master of his craft.
He wrote the classic "Love the one you're with" and his inclusion in the band Crosby, Stills and Nash (and Young) will forever be a massive part of the music revolution of the 70's.
I met him at the MULWALA Pop Festival in 1972, when he was there with his band "MANASSES". I remember him trying out his amp and the mighty sound that came out that was unique to him.
The world has lost one of the great guitar players
R.I.P Stephen Stills"

Thankfully this is a hoax.
Stephen Stills is alive and well. Recent rumors about his death were confirmed to be a hoax, with reports circulating on social media claiming he passed away in February 2026. However, these claims have been debunked, and Stills continues to be active in his music career.
