I'm the ex-drummer of Phil Jones and The Unknown Blues. We had a few singles on the charts in the mid to late 1960s. I may have mentioned the guitarist, Chris Brown, who went on to Ayers Rock. Chris and I met at school when we were 8 years old. Around the age of 14 we formed a combo and our first performance was a cover of The Rolling Stones "I Wanna Be Your Man". I sang and played guitar and Chris was on piano. The venue was our high school hall at lunchtime! That was the start of something much bigger in the years that followed. Our group went on to record "If I Had A Ticket". We appeared on "Saturday Date". The Loved Ones were on the same show. We toured Melbourne and Brisbane and were resident at Beethovens. These days I enjoy collecting and listening to all material produced during that era. There was a wealth of talent that was not given enough airtime and many good bands faded into obscurity when the scene started to change in the 70s. Some icons such as Billy Thorpe broke through the barriers put in front of them by the record industry and were better off for it whilst others didn't really have a chance. I still enjoy music from the 60s and too much is never enough!
